Free Registration and Data
Anyone can create a free Groundwater Global account and perform groundwater measurements at no cost.
Users always retain access to their own data and can download their measurements freely at any time.
Citizen Data Collection
Measurements can be collected from individual users within your area on a monthly basis at no cost.
For larger-scale monitoring, water authorities and other professional organizations can systematically collect groundwater measurements within their area. Automatic data retrieval can be configured through the Groundwater Global API.
Professional data collection services are subject to subscription fees, enabling Groundwater Global to continuously maintain, expand, and improve the platform.
Data Visibility and Privacy
Collection of citizen measurements by geographic area includes only locations that users have explicitly marked as public (transparent). These measurements are openly shared by their owners for anyone to access.
Groundwater Global encourages organizations collecting publicly shared citizen data to appropriately recognize or compensate contributors for the value of their measurements.
Professional project data collection operates differently. Measurements associated with a professional project can include both public (transparent) and private (non-transparent) locations. This allows water authorities to securely manage and access all project data while retaining full control over the privacy and transparency settings of each measurement location.
Professional Data Access
Groundwater measurements can be systematically retrieved:
- By geographic area (as illustrated in the map).
- By professional project within a dedicated Groundwater Global Professional environment.
This enables water authorities to integrate citizen science data alongside professionally managed monitoring campaigns.
Subscriptions (2026)
These rates are dependent on country, as they are multiplied by the Groundwater Global Country Coefficient. Rates exclude tax.

Community users perform the monitoring and must explicitly make their location(s) transparent.
For 1 location credit in the subscription data can be collected from 4 transparent community locations.
Universities may get up to 80% discount on these rates.
A Price Coefficient for each Country
Data collection rates are scaled by the Groundwater Global Country Coefficient for reasons of equity. Each country has their own coefficient derived from income statistics.
